Mason was one of the first companies in Europe to apply laser scanning technology to surveying the 3D world. The company has gained immense experience in scanning and modelling from point cloud data.

Laser scanning surveys are undertaken by the emission of pulse laser beams that create a cloud of referenced points. The data is interpreted by our Specialist 3D staff who derive valuable 2D and 3D products for the client, as well as providing the point cloud only for in-house processing and data extraction. Elevations, sections 3D models and TIN models are some of the products derived from the cloud.

The Laser Scanning division has completed major projects in virtually all sectors of the marketplace including architecture, planning, heritage, plant, construction, engineering, and transport.

Among the major benefits to clients is high accuracy of the scan data, the comprehensive coverage of the data, and the wide variety of environments and conditions in which the scanner can work. Laser scan data can also act as long term record of site conditions at the time of the survey, which can be returned to and modelled from as needed.
